Marinette Middle School Billboard Contest Winners!

Winners have been selected for the drug abuse billboard contest sponsored by The Healthy Youth Coalition and Marinette Middle School.  During Red Ribbon Week, students in 5th-8th grade were asked to create a poster with their ideas regarding the dangers of drug abuse.  Due to the overwhelming response of entries, two grand prize winners were chosen.  Designs created by Sabrina Svoboda and Nathan Powell will be displayed on the billboards in front of the school on Main Street.  The overall first place winner of the “Newspaper Ad” category was created by Katie Craver, which will be published in the EagleHerald.   First place prize for the “Poster” category goes to Jadin Cruz and her design will be professionally printed and will be displayed throughout the school and community.  First place overall winner of the “Radio Ad” category was Anna Lynch whose drawing concept will be created into a radio commercial.

Due to the exceptional creativity and hard work that went into these designs, additional awards were awarded to the following runner-up winners; Bailee Race (poster prize), Lyndsay Ebsch (poster prize), Dylan Brown (radio ad prize) and Polina Orliva (radio ad prize).   All of this is possible thanks to the AODA Student Mini-Grant Program Grant.  The Healthy Youth Coalition as well as Marinette Middle School would also especially like to thank Lithocrafters Printing, EagleHerald and Bay Cities Radio for their contributions to the prizes.  If you are interested in learning more about drug abuse and how you can help fight this increasing issue in our community, please contact the Healthy Youth Coalition at 906-863-5665 ext. 1038.
