We are excited to announce that the Healthy Youth Coalition has been awarded a PFS (Partnership For Success) 2015 Grant! This Wisconsin based grant focuses on prescription drug misuse and abuse among persons aged 12-25. Evidence-based prevention efforts for reducing problems related to the non-medical use of prescription drugs in 14 high need counties will be delivered through oversight, training and technical assistance provided by Alliance for Wisconsin Youth (AWY) Regional Prevention Centers (RPCs). Strategies will focus on reducing youth/young adult access to and the availability of prescription drugs in the community.

Marinette County was identified as 1 out of the 14 high need counties in the state which ultimately granted HYC eligibility to apply. Bad news? We were identified. Good news? We can do something about it! This grant will allow us to bring evidence-based programs to Marinette County schools, fund local police officers to become DRE’s (Drug Recognition Experts), purchase more prescription drop boxes in our community and so much more! If you are interested in what you can do to help with this initiative, please consider attending our next Substance Abuse Task Force on Tuesday, December 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Menominee County Intermediate School District!
