Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Summit to be held September 25th at Best Western Riverfront Inn

 

The Healthy Youth Coalition of Marinette and Menominee Counties and the Great Start Collaborative of Menominee County are excited to sponsor a Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome Summit on Tuesday, September 25th from 8:30-3:30 at the Best Western Riverfront Inn, 1821 Riverside Ave., Marinette, WI.  The summit will feature keynote speaker, Hendree Jones, PhD, a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and Executive Director of Horizons, a comprehensive drug treatment program for pregnant and parenting women and their drug-exposed children.  Dr. Jones has received continuous funding from the United States National Institutes of Health since 1994 and has published over 190 publications, two books on treating substance use disorders (one for pregnant and parenting women and the other for a more general population of patients), numerous book and textbook chapters. Dr. Jones leads or is involved in projects in the USA and in multiple countries around the world. Each project she is involved in is focused on improving the lives of children, women and families.  Other speakers include Janey Joffee, MBA Assistant Director at Upper Peninsula Health Care Solutions and a panel discussion with local professionals.  This a free, informational summit with limited space available.  Anyone planning to attend needs to register no later than September 18th by calling 906-863-5665 ext. 1033 or emailing cgrabowski@mc-isd.org.  Lunch will be provided for all participants.
